
Alexandre Gouveia, born in 1980 (Lisbon) and lived until 18 in Azores, is a GP on the Viana do Castelo Health Centre, in Northern Portugal.
He graduated in Medicine at the Medical Faculty in the University of Lisbon in 2004 and he was a GP trainee at the Family Health Unit Vale do Vez in Arcos de Valdevez from 2006 until 2009. He was a member of the Organizing Committee of the First Virtual Congress of General Practice and Family Medicine, held at http://www.congressovirtualmgf.com from April to June 2008, and chaired the Organizing Committee of the Second Virtual Congress of General Practice, that occurred at http://www.virtualcongressgpfm.com in 2009.
At this moment, he’s the Secretary of the Board of the Portuguese Association of General Practitioners, and responsible for the Quality and IT Department at the Portuguese association. He also works as Junior Lecturer at the Community Health Scientific Area on the School of Health Sciences – University of Minho, Braga, with Jaime Correia de Sousa and Yonah Yaphe. He was nominated in 2009 as Portuguese delegate at EQuiP, the WONCA network for quality in general practice.
His main interests are the development of quality in primary health care, the appliance of the new information and communication technologies in family medicine, the relationship between web 2.0/web 3.0 and healthcare, and the doctor-patient relationship 2.0.
